Located behind the IMRC building on campus, the Burro Project trailer is a participatory museum where visitors become collaborators—constructing the collection by bringing an item to contribute that has been “left behind.” By this we mean any interpretation of that phrase the contributors care to imagine. The items then will be displayed in the community “curated” collection.
In keeping with its function as an alternative to the conventional museum, we also invite the viewer, after leaving an item, to TAKE an item, creating a flow not a part of the traditional museum.
We will open Monday, April 27th starting at 10 and throughout the week, culminating in a reception on Friday, May 1st from 3-6:00 pm.
We invite anyone and everyone to stop by, and bring what’s left behind. We are aiming for as many collaborators as we can get, a flow of left behind treasure coming in and going out. Contributors also have an opportunity to include a bit of story via audio or written word as to the reasons behind their “what was left”.
